Master Bathroom Update

Justin and I have been constantly working on house project since we moved in and we are finally getting some of them complete! We painted our master bathroom back in February or March but there were a few finishing touches we had to finish. The last thing was a new valence that my mom made for us. My mom and I picked out the fabric at JoAnn's and she made the drapery. She finished it a few weeks back and we've had the curtain rod since May but finally got around to hanging it yesterday. I'm so happy with how everything turned out! I saw the wall color on pinterest and had to really search on the blog it linked to to find the actual blog post and color of the wall but it was worth the effort. It's definitely a brighter-bolder color than we usually choose but I'm glad we branched out on this one. We decided to stick with white accents for the decoration - which matches the white tile of the tub and shower - very spa like!

We still have one (maybe 2) project left in here but it's a big one - change the cabinet color. We've talked about refinishing them the way we did our guest bathroom but this house does not have raised vanities like we put in our last house (sad day!) so we don't want to do all the work and then decide we want to put new cabinets in the bathroom so we are just holding out for now. We also want to frame the mirror but that will have to wait until we make the cabinet decision also.

Mom made this valence too :)

Fall Decorations...and my 100th Post!!

Happy Fall!! I wanted to make sure I posted this before we put out our Christmas decorations since we will be doing that early this year because of vacations :) Before I made this post I went and looked at my fall decorations post from last year and I'm wondering where some of that stuff is?! Apparently I need to look at these posts before I decorate so I don't miss something! But I think it's fun that every year we have a lot of the same decorations but use them differently - it mixes things up!

I can't believe it but this is my 100th post! I've had my blog for about 2 1/2 years so that's like an avg of 40 posts a year  or 3ish a month - not bad! I hope to continue to document the milestones in our life...big [like vacations] and small ]like holiday decorations], as well as my (hopefully) improving photography skills!

I added another little pumpkin to our collection this year!
Our new fall table runner from Home Goods
Leaves & Pumpkins
Festive hutch
Love this owl with bats on it!

My goodwill vase finds dressed up for fall
A tad of fall in the guest bathroom...I feel like the owl decor covers fall in there :)

Bedroom Makeover...Take Two (or is it three?)

I don't like change...it freaks me out and makes me uncomfortable. However, decorating change? Bring it on! We have lived in our house almost three years and you would think the room we probably spend the most time in would be our favorite? Nope guess again. Our favorite room was our guest room - that we NEVER go in. We have slowly been working on our bedroom and I'm so excited how far we've come! Back in November we put in laminate flooring which made a WORLD of difference in all of our bedrooms so that was sort of step 1. Then we did a bedroom makeover which I should have titled step two of ???

Justin and I have been searching for bedroom furniture we liked since we had a bed (no headboard or anything), matching nightstands that we stained ourselves (I'm proud that we did this ourselves AND they lasted 3 years), and the entertainment center that Justin's dad built that was in his living room in College Station. The mismatch never really bugged me but I was starting to want a set that matched because hello I turned 25 this year and shouldn't I have matching furniture?? We have a problem when we look at furniture because A) it's too fancy and SO not us B) we like the most expensive thing in the store C) while I don't like change...we do tend to change our minds on things like this.

We finally decided on a bedroom set from Ikea. I know people have their opinions about Ikea but you can keep them to yourselves because we LOVE Ikea. Our guest bedroom furniture is from there and I've had since my junior year of college...so 5 years and it's been through 4/5 moves and has held up wonderfully. We also liked the idea of not spending a butt load of money and in 5 years wanting new furniture and feeling guilted into keeping it or super guilty about getting rid of it. So off to Ikea we went! Now luckily for you people I don't have any pictures of the ugly assembly of all of this furniture. That is definitely the negative about Ikea...some ALL assembly required. BUT I must say I am super proud that we can say we built all of this furniture ourselves and together!! While there was some cussing/throwing parts around...we spent quality time together talking and laughing so I really have no complaints.

I almost didn't even do this post because after I loaded the pictures onto the computer I noticed a few things. The pillows on are bed aren't right...So don't get me started on new bedding and what I went through to get the one we have but let me just say Target and I aren't friends right now. Long story short they don't have king shams for this bedding...even though they SAY they do, so these are standard shams and it bugs me but I'm coping. And yes I know I need some decorative pillows blah blah. So the wall the entertainment center used to be on looks SO BARE. I feel like it doesn't look that bad in person but in these pics holy moly does it look boring. I haven't decided what needs to go there yet so I'm not going to jump to buy/hang something just to be done with it. So basically you are going to see Bedroom Makeover take Twenty by the time I'm done with this room...and then we'll probably have to move.

So now that I have given you my life story on our bedroom furniture and decorating issues...here are the before/after pics!

Before...aka December

After!!

Ew...Before
So much junk!
After - much better...except for that horribly bare wall

Winter Wreath

I have been pinning wreaths on pinterest since I joined but have yet to make one. I decided I wanted to make a wreath that I could use all winter because I don't want to keep switching out wreaths for "little" holidays...Valentine's day, St. Patrick's day, Easter, etc. So once I found this wreath I knew it was the one I wanted to make. I pinned this inspiration 12 weeks ago and finally got around to completing it!! I could not hang it the same way in the picture since I have to use a wreath hanger on the front door instead of the 3M sticky holder. I also changed up the colors to make it more wintry.
