Master Bathroom Update

Justin and I have been constantly working on house project since we moved in and we are finally getting some of them complete! We painted our master bathroom back in February or March but there were a few finishing touches we had to finish. The last thing was a new valence that my mom made for us. My mom and I picked out the fabric at JoAnn's and she made the drapery. She finished it a few weeks back and we've had the curtain rod since May but finally got around to hanging it yesterday. I'm so happy with how everything turned out! I saw the wall color on pinterest and had to really search on the blog it linked to to find the actual blog post and color of the wall but it was worth the effort. It's definitely a brighter-bolder color than we usually choose but I'm glad we branched out on this one. We decided to stick with white accents for the decoration - which matches the white tile of the tub and shower - very spa like!

We still have one (maybe 2) project left in here but it's a big one - change the cabinet color. We've talked about refinishing them the way we did our guest bathroom but this house does not have raised vanities like we put in our last house (sad day!) so we don't want to do all the work and then decide we want to put new cabinets in the bathroom so we are just holding out for now. We also want to frame the mirror but that will have to wait until we make the cabinet decision also.

Mom made this valence too :)

Canvas Pinterest Project

Our guest bedroom is still incomplete and we've lived here almost 3 years (crazy!). Recently I got a new bedspread and I feel like the room is almost complete...yay! There are still some blank walls in this room (if you've seen the rest of our house you know how odd this is) and I've been itching to fill these spaces. This is our "travel room" where I have a lot of vacation pictures hanging up. Last weekend my friend Magan were hanging out and decided it was time for an impromptu Pinterest project so we headed over to hobby lobby and stocked up on supplies! Magan had pinned these fun quote canvases so we decided to give them a shot. I decided it would be perfect to do a travel quote and put in our travel room :)

First I cut the scrapbook paper and the mod-podged the paper onto the canvas. This was more difficult than I anticipated because there ended up being some bumps I couldn't get out. After the mod podge was dry I put my vinyl letters on...luckily you can move these if you don't get them in the right place!

Next it was time to paint the canvas. I used acrylic paint - it was actually meant for patio furniture but I picked it because of the color. I ended up using almost the whole bottle and couldn't cover the chevron stripes completely but I think it's okay!

I let it dry overnight and then peeled off the letters and I must say it turned out better than I anticipated!!

Here's the finished product!

It goes perfectly with the bedspread!! I will post a complete room picture/tour once this room is done!

Magan - Can't wait for our next Pinterest project!

Painting with a Twist - Whimsey Tree

Saturday night Rachel and I went to Painting with a Twist and had a blast!! It's an art studio where you BYOW (bring your own wine...or beer) and snacks and they provide all the painting materials and instruction! When we walked in they handed us a blank canvas...we were a little surprised because we thought they traced the painting for you and you basically filled it in. NOPE we painted it from scratch! We were super nervous but had tons of fun...I would definitely go back again.

Our snack bag...consisted of Hot & Spicy Cheez-Its, sour gummy worms, chewy jolly ranchers, and chocolate chip cookies. Not pictured - our bottle of Exotic Fruits Arbor Mist :) We're definitely classy
We are SO ready to do this!
We were trying to get our aprons in the pic
My blank canvas
Swirlies
The blue was my favorite part...mixing colors is fun!
Adding circles and more swirls
My tree! They make the hardest part at the end when half the people are drunk haha
Rachel & her masterpiece!!
Me & my masterpiece :)
Such a fun night!
What shall we paint next??
