2nd Anniversary: Fredericksburg, Texas

I can't believe it but Justin and I have been married for 2 years today!! In a way it feels like forever ago but I remember all the details from that perfect day like it was yesterday. I guess since we've been together for 6 years that's why it feels like longer :) Justin and I love to travel and go on a lot of vacations but we rarely ever just RELAX. Last year for our 1st anniversary we went to Travaasa...a beautiful resort on Lake Travis. This year I wanted to do something equally relaxing and neither of us have been to Fredericksburg (I went for the day when I was like 11 but don't remember...shocking I know) so that's where we went!

We left Austin around 10am and after a Starbucks & gas pit stop we were on our way. The drive was actually really enjoyable...pretty hill country views and jamming out to some music! I had the A&M game feed up on my phone so we followed it until we got to Fredericksburg. We ate lunch at Peach Tree...it was SO good. Thanks for the recommendation friends :)

After lunch we walked up and down Main Street and did lots of Christmas shopping. We really enjoyed the furniture/home furnishing shops drooling over the gorgeous furniture we have no room for...I told Justin when we move we need to come to Fredericksburg with a U-haul because there would be too much furniture we would want!

Super cool wine chiller...we wanted to get it for my mom until we saw it was $250 :(
In the middle of our shopping we stopped at Clear River and shared a Mexican Vanilla ice cream....um can you say delicious??
We stayed at the new Holiday Inn Express...it was SO NICE! Definitely the nicest Holiday Inn Express I've ever seen! Not sure why anyone would need this but we had TWO big screen TVs in our room! haha

Pretty pool with a lazy river and 2 water slides....too bad the pool was FREEZING!
Waterfall, Slide & Spa
After we walked all over downtown we headed over to our hotel and checked in. It was too early to go to dinner so we decided to try the pool/hot tub. I put my foot in the pool and it was COLD...which would explain why there were only 2 people in it...2 crazy little kids! So we went in the HOT tub. It felt good on my sore feet!

After the hot tub we decided it was dinner time so we went back to downtown and had it narrowed down to 3 restaurants. We ended up choosing Silver Creek and oh my, what a good decision! They had live music and the food was amazing! Justin inhaled his chicken fried steak and I had a Santa Fe Steak salad that was so so good. We split a piece of Chocolate Cake for dinner and somehow I also squeezed in a Fredericksburg Peach Margarita...MMM.

We walked around Main Street after dinner to walk some of that food off. Pretty much all of the stores were closed but we did find an open store that had lots of random "stuff"." They had LOTS of candy - old school stuff and new stuff. We bought my mom a Sky Bar...her favorite candy bar that you can usually only get in New England! After we went back to the hotel and just relaxed.
Only picture of us from the day :)
Sunday morning we were up at 7 of course so we had breakfast at the hotel and got on the road and were home by 10. We are not ones to hang around anywhere on Sundays...we like to get home!

What a great anniversary weekend! We plan to have a low-key dinner at home tonight and try to relax since that rarely happens during the week (and who are we kidding...that rarely happens on the weekends either)! As much as I love little weekend getaways I am SO ready for our next vacation!! Only 5 weeks away!

And one more picture...one of my favorites from our wedding!

Baseball, Ice Cream, & Wedding!

Justin and I had a busy but super fun weekend. Friday night we went to Aggie Night at the Dell Diamond with my parents and Michael and Christine. The Capitol City A&M Club rents out the air conditioned event suite and this year the pool and it's all you can eat and drink while you watch the Round Rock Express! We went last year and had a BLAST...I must say the guys had more fun than us (too bad the all you can drink is only beer...boo). Even though it's August and it's HOT there was a nice breeze all evening and it was never unbearable. We cut out before the fireworks because Justin wasn't feeling well and needed to rest for our busy Saturday!

Baseball...I actually chatted with Christine the whole time rather than watching the game :)
Us @ the end of the night!

Saturday morning Justin and I went to the Austin Ice Cream Festival. I won VIP tickets on facebook this week so decided we had to go even though we couldn't stay long. I never win anything so I was super excited!! The festival was at Fiesta Gardens this year (on Lady Bird Lake East of 35) since Waterloo Park is closed for 5 years. The festival was a little different than when we went last year...you paid an entry fee (ours was free!) and then you could get all of the samples you wanted inside! I would say this is definitely better than last year!

VIP wahoo!!
yay for ice cream!
My first sample!
J's first sample!

Here's a list of what we tried!

Justin
Amy's Ice Cream - Belgium Chocolate
Cool Haus - Ice Cream Sandwich - Red Velvet Cookie & Salted Caramel Ice Cream
Blue Bell - The Great Divide Ice Cream Bar
Austin Scoops - Caribbean Rum Cake
The Melting Cone - Vanilla Bean

Katie
Amy's Ice Cream – Watermelon
Good Pops - Watermelon Agave Popsicle
Cool Haus - Ice Cream Sandwich - Red Velvet Cookie & Salted Caramel Ice Cream
Blue Bell - Sour Green Apple Popsicle
The Melting Cone - Chocolate

Hands down both of our favorite Ice Cream was the Caribbean Rum Cake from Austin Scoops! It was delicious!! Last year my favorite Ice Cream was also from Austin Scoops...Too bad it's 29.7 miles from our house :( I guess we will just have to make a visit for a special occasion...or an adventure!

We couldn't stay long at the Ice Cream Festival because one of my college roommates, Niki, was getting married that afternoon in Buda! It was a beautiful wedding and I am SO excited for her and Bryan, they are perfect for each other!! The ceremony was in a beautiful Catholic church in Buda and the reception was at Texas Old Town in Kyle. I had seen pictures of this venue but it is SO much prettier in person. Beautiful grounds and a really neat place to have a reception. Justin and I got there early and took a couple pictures before the reception started.

Pretty trees!

 Well
Pretty stream outside reception hall

Beautiful Bride and Bridesmaid! Love my roomies!

Sunday we were able to take it easy and run some errands, workout, hang out at the pool with friends, and have a nice quiet dinner. I only have 4 free weekends before Christmas so any relaxing time is wonderful but there should be some fun posts coming up!!

Reunions, Graduations, and Ice Cream...Oh my!

k so I am LONG overdue for a post, I apologize! It feels like forever since I wrote but it was really only 2 weeks ago from today, wow. So 2 weekends ago we took a trip to Schulenburg for the Schulenburg festival and Justin's 5 year class reunion. Justin, Lexie, Hunter and I went on Friday after work and my parents came Saturday morning. My parents had never been to Schulenburg so I think it was an experience for them. The experience started out with us having to go pick up Justin's mom from work within 5 minutes of my parents getting there because there was a crazy man outside the clinic where she works. So see, Austin doesn't house ALL the crazy people! Then right after we got to Justin's house we realized Lexie had escaped and was loose in the field. Her little head kept popping up in the grass that was taller than her. It was scary that she was loose but pretty funny that she kept popping up in the field. We finally caught her - Justin said he'd never seen me run that fast!! haha So after that we went to the festival for a while where it was scorching hot, as you can imagine outside in August in Texas. Then Justin and I went to his reunion for a bit. That night back at his house I was finally able to get out my camera and take some pictures. I took a ton of pictures and got to play with different settings I hadn't had a chance to use. Here are a few of my favorites:

This past weekend was a blast! Miss Rachel Barde graduated on Friday and we had the pleasure of celebrating with her on Friday night with her family and again on Saturday with everyone! I don't have many pictures from Friday because my parents and I got Rachel a new camera for graduation which happens to have a fish-eye setting so that pretty much occupied us all night. Check her facebook albums if you need more detail. Saturday morning Justin, Christine, Michael and I went to the Austin Ice Cream Festival at Waterloo Park. There wasn't much to do but there was a TON of food/ice cream choices - so who can complain?? I ended up getting a scoop of banana pudding gelato - DELICIOUS and a mini ice cream sandwich that had ginger snap cookies and lemon peel ice cream - also VERY yummy! Justin, Michael, and Christine opted for some dippin' dots.

Me with my gelato & Justin with his dippin' dots!

Fun Ice Cream Festival van!!

After the adventure downtown the 4 of us made our way out to Carlos and Charlies on Lake Travis for Hotschedules (Justin and Michael's company) 10 year reunion. Ok that made it sound like Michael and Justin own it - they just work for Hotschedules but how cool would that be if they owned it?? Anyways, the boys were sweating their butts off in the volleyball tournament and Christine and I were sweating our butts off watching. It was a fun afternoon but we had to cut it short at 3:30 when my parents picked us up to go to Rachel's graduation party on large marge the party barge! I must say marge was large and was definitely a party barge!! We had SO much fun!! Captain Dave took us out to "the cove" or something like that and we got to swim and eat and watch the sunset. Who could ask for a better Saturday than that?? And to top it off Hunter turned 2 years old!! He got some glow necklace action when we got home! We celebrated his birthday the weekend before in Schulenburg with his doggie cousins! He had a birthday cake and everything :)

My handsome birthday boy!!

It's been a crazy past 2 weeks with everything going on and doesn't look like it's going to slow down anytime soon. This weekend we're off to Houston for my second bridal shower - I'm so excited!

In other news I had my first product launch last Friday...go check it out - it's the Dell Streak. I could have a whole blog post about that but I'm not going to bore anybody :) I promise it won't be 2 weeks until my next blog post!! I'll leave you with one last picture...a sky picture of course!
