Color in Motion 5K!

This past weekend I went to Houston to visit Rachel & Lauren and run in the Color In Motion 5K. I got to Rachel's Friday evening and we went to Chuy's for dinner with her parents - YUM! When we got home we just talked until we went to bed because we were both pretty tired and knew we had to be up early.

The run was at Reliant Stadium - it was super well organized and SO fun!! A little bit different than our somewhat disastrous color run last year but I won't get into that haha. The weather was PERFECT!! For those of you that have never done a color run...DO IT...even if you aren't a runner. Every kilometer or so you go through a spot where they throw color (colored corn starch) on you. The color powder is totally safe and washes off after the race!

Definitely before - Look how clean we are!!
And after!!
Trying to take a picture but we kept falling on each other...don't ask
hahaha my face
So excited!
They had just thrown a ton of color and it created a haze
Rachel's awesome mustache
Our backs...Lauren is a liiitle too clean
Dirty shoes!
BFFs
And of course we have to have jumping pictures!!

After we finished the race and hungout for a bit after we headed over to Freebirds for lunch. We knew we couldn't go somewhere too nice since we were still covered in color - but at Freebirds we fit right in!

After lunch Lauren and I headed to her house in Rosenberg but stopped in Sugarland to get pedicures. Oh my goodness it was wonderful! We had to explain to the girls working there why we looked like we did and we got plenty of strange looks but we didn't care. Getting a pedicure after a race is a must, it was so relaxing! After our pedicures we went to Lauren's house and decided to head to Kroger to get food to make dinner - we decided to be lazy around the house rather than going out and I'm SO glad we did! We made a delicious Mexican Spinach Dip, Texas 2 Step Slaw, Burgers, and Fries...oh and Banana Cream Pie for dessert! (I saw we but it was mostly Lauren and her dad hehe). I finally got to see Magic Mike!! and we watched the dog show...I think I need to make an annual trip to Houston to watch this with Lauren's mom!! I headed out early Sunday morning so I could beat some of the traffic and get home in time to do our Sunday errands and go to my parent's friends SuperBowl Party.

It was a great weekend! I drove over 400 miles just going from home to Humble, to Reliant, to Rosenberg and back home. I google mapped it and I could have driven from Portland, Maine to Philadelphia in the same amount of miles and crossed 6 states. Instead I just went to Houston - but I guess that's what I get since it's the 4th largest city in the country!

Can't wait for my next girls trip!!

Painting with a Twist - Whimsey Tree

Saturday night Rachel and I went to Painting with a Twist and had a blast!! It's an art studio where you BYOW (bring your own wine...or beer) and snacks and they provide all the painting materials and instruction! When we walked in they handed us a blank canvas...we were a little surprised because we thought they traced the painting for you and you basically filled it in. NOPE we painted it from scratch! We were super nervous but had tons of fun...I would definitely go back again.

Our snack bag...consisted of Hot & Spicy Cheez-Its, sour gummy worms, chewy jolly ranchers, and chocolate chip cookies. Not pictured - our bottle of Exotic Fruits Arbor Mist :) We're definitely classy
We are SO ready to do this!
We were trying to get our aprons in the pic
My blank canvas
Swirlies
The blue was my favorite part...mixing colors is fun!
Adding circles and more swirls
My tree! They make the hardest part at the end when half the people are drunk haha
Rachel & her masterpiece!!
Me & my masterpiece :)
Such a fun night!
What shall we paint next??

Babies & Presents & Food!

This past weekend my mom and I went to College Station for Rachel's baby shower. We had a Cotton Bowl watching party at Sandie's on Friday night. Luckily we had good food since the Ags didn't do so well. I didn't take any pictures but we had Southwest egg rolls from Chili's, chicken wings from Wings-N-More, Mexican Spaghetti, taco dip, Whoopie Pies & banana pudding! Oh and when Lauren got there we had some delicious homeade kolaches! And of course there was wine!! I would much rather be at a football party with all this wonderful food than be at the cowboys stadium getting ripped off for everything!! It made the (losing) game much more enjoyable!

Saturday morning Lauren and I took Rachel out while the girls were setting up for the party. It was such a wonderful shower and I think Rachel had a really good time. Let me just say that Audrey is already beyond spoiled and is going to be the best dressed baby around!

Where has the time gone??

Ok I'll admit it, I'm a bad blogger. It's been almost a month since my last entry. But in my defense I am GETTING MARRIED in 2 days :) So I'm going to use that as my excuse. I'm going to use this entry to recap the bachelorette party in pictures. If you want an actual recap of the weekend...visit Mansee's blog, I just can't top that recap! And also, I have not had time to get my rebel out in the last couple weeks...it makes me so sad:( AND I didn't take any pictures during the bachelorette party so these are all stolen from Miss Rachel Barde, once again :)

My bachelorette party was the weekend of October 2nd, we stayed at the Hill Country Hyatt in San Antonio. It was Rachel, Lauren, Mansee, Ashley & Christine and we had a BLAST!

Surprise Shower & First Photoshoot!

So the wedding is literally right around the corner…with only 3 weekends before the big day!! So exciting but still so much to do…so the blog posts will probably be fewer and far between for a while. On a wedding related note…my co-workers through me an amazing surprise bridal shower last week!! You can see I literally had no idea when I walked into my cube!!

Surprise!
I was surrounded by balloons, bright streamers, cute little mints, wonderful presents, and flowers! It was hard to get to work but it had to be done. One of my co-workers left her Nikon SLR camera so I took some pictures of the festivities with that since of course I didn’t have my camera.

Me with my cake & presents
On Friday Rachel and her sister Jesyca came to Austin for one last visit (for Jes) before she headed back to Israel on Sunday. I got to do my first (human) photo shoot! We went downtown to the hill by the Long Center for a little photo shoot. I really couldn’t ask for better subjects…they’re so FUN and willing to do serious & goofy pictures. It was hot and humid (wait were we in Houston or Austin??? Hard to tell by the weather) but they were troopers…even with some outfit changes. I have too many favorites but I’m going to TRY to narrow it down to a couple to post here. We started pictures at about 5:30 so the lighting was awesome. We wanted to take some pictures downtown before it got dark but our hunger and cravings for Jamba Juice and Pita Pit got the best of us!! Here we go...

Beautiful day in the ATX!

Love the jumping pics!

Check out that air she's getting!

Cute sisters! Looks kinda like a fake background...promise we were there!
