Pantry Organization

So in my last post I mentioned my new found obsession with Pinterest. Here is a project inspired by organization boards on Pinterest. We have a huge pantry which is good because it holds a ton of stuff but it's hard to keep organized. I did a lot of organization last week but I'm still not done. I made a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond and got some great Oxo storage containers, storage baskets & another spice rack. So here are some before & after pics.

Pinterest Project - DIY Taco Seasoning

So I have a new obsession with Pinterest and have been finding so many food/craft/house ideas that I want to try. I tried this yummy Frozen Coconut Limeade which was AMAZING! It tasted like a margarita with a coconut after taste..yumm! A great way too cool off in this crazy heat! Anyways, one of the other recipes that intrigued me was DIY taco seasoning. We have tacos & variations of tacos pretty frequently so we buy a lot of taco seasoning. The package mixes from the store taste good but are loaded with sodium (even the low sodium ones). I mixed up all of the spices and put in a container to store. Can't wait to make some tacos and try it out! DIY Taco Seasoning - Smells Like Home.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of my Pintereset project Posts!

Too Much Jewelry....Craft Project!

So I have been really frustrated lately with my necklaces in my jewelry box. They ALWAYS get tangled and I spend 10-15 mins every morning untangling the one I want to wear. I've been on the lookout for a necklace holder - but nothing I saw really would fix the problem. I decided that I wanted a cork board and would put thumbtacks to hold the necklaces. I saw a really cute cork board at hobby lobby with a black frame around it but the actual cork board wasn't that big and it was 20ish dollars. So yesterday at Michael's I found a plain cork board for 5.99 and used some paint I already had at home to brighten it up a bit. Justin and I went on a picture-hanging spree last night and hung my new owl picture (yay!) and my new necklace holder. I'm really happy with how it turned out and am thinking about making another one for the other side of the linen closet because I have a LOT of necklaces :)

Fun, Friends, & Family!

This weekend was filled with fun, friends & family. Friday night we had a neighbor(hood) dinner at our house with 8 of our neighbors! It was a blast and I can't wait until we can all get together again. Saturday Justin's parents came up for the day - we did tons of shopping and had lunch at Justin's dad's favorite Mexican restaurant - Rio Grande. At lunch we got to give Justin his birthday present (only 3 months early - NBD). He is SUPER excited about his birthday trip to Vegas...I couldn't keep it in more than 4 days...what can I say - we tell each other everything! After Justin's parents left, my friend Magan (Urban Grey Photography) invited me to go on a bridal portrait shoot with her. What an AMAZING experience! She let me tag along with my camera. I took tons of pictures but I don't want to share any of the bride because she doesn't get married until August and you know how stuff can get around on the internet. I will share some scenery pictures I took :) Lastly, we went to Dave & Busters Sunday night to celebrate neighbor Cory's birthday. What a blast! Justin had never been and he was def like a kid at Chuck E. Cheese! So apparently I'm horrible at gambling...where I could actually win money rather than tickets...but I have great luck playing games! I hit the jackpot on multiple games last night...it was so exciting because I never win anything! The last pictures are of Justin and I with our 500 jackpot wins!

We Looove the Outside!

So it's been a long time since I've written and today I was having camera withdrawals. I took over 1200 pictures on vacation and I guess I was kind of burned out when I got home so I haven't really used my camera. I'll have to recap our vacation soon - it's just so hard to summarize a fantastic 12 day trip in a few pictures but I will do my best. But today after I got home from working out I took out my camera and my favorite subjects and went outside for a bit. It was nice and "cool" at 95 degrees...I'm just trying to enjoy before we get back into the 100's everyday! I dread what August brings...eek! Anyways - here's some of my favorite pictures of my little dog models from today :)
