Understanding Exposure...The Beginning

So I'm taking this Light & Composition class with Kristin, a friend from work. She loaned me this awesome book - "Understanding Exposures" and I've been trying to read it and try out the exercises when I have time. Tonight when I got home the sky looked kind of cool so I decided to try out some different settings in manual mode. They aren't great pictures but I thought they came out pretty good considering I didn't use a tripod. Can't wait to keep reading this book & learning new techniques! I just ordered this book for myself - as well as the updated edition!!

Pennybacker Bridge

So my photography assignment for last week was to take a picture using leading lines & a framing device. The subject is the Pennybacker bridge, the leading lines are 360 & the framing device is the tree. Luckily it was a BEAUTIFUL day so I got some good shots!!

Justin made the hike up to the lookout point with me :)

Composition & Light

So I started another photography class last wednesday at UT (informal classes) - it's called composition & light. Our first assignment was to make a well composed portrait of a person with a lot of depth of field. My wonderful husband was my subject & we went out Saturday at sunset to take some pictures. I wasn't happy with how they turned out so we tried again Sunday afternoon before the superbowl. The pictures aren't perfect but I know how to improve next time. Here are a few of my favorites.
