On Wednesday we cruised Glacier Bay and it was beautiful! Even though we didn't have a picture perfect day that is on all of the brochures, it was still a really neat place. I was super excited to see Hubbard Glacier and be back in Glacier Bay again because I LOVE glaciers. When I was in elementary school I would always check out the glacier book from the library because I thought they were so interesting!
Two park rangers from Glacier Bay National Park boarded the boat and gave us lots of interesting facts throughout the day (we could hear it from our balcony which was nice). Here are some fun facts!
Glacier Bay is the largest UNESCO protected biosphere in the world
Glacier Bay (body of water) covers 1,375 square miles of glaciers
Only 2 cruise ships allowed per day
Glacier Bay National Park encompasses 3.3 million acres
Johns Hopkins Glacier is 12 miles long
Margerie Glacier is 21 miles long and about 1 mile wide
Next up...Skagway & the Yukon Territory!!
